Exploring the Benefits of Cosmetic Gynecology:Vaginal Rejuvenation & Labiaplasty
Our Plano urogynecology practice provides comprehensive care for all of a woman’s needs, and sometimes that includes enhancing her confidence and quality of life with labiaplasty or vaginoplasty. As a board certified obstetrician and gynecologist, Dr. J. Kyle Mathews understands that genetics, childbirth or age can alter a woman’s appearance. For that reason, the scope of Dr. Mathews’ practice includes aesthetic vaginal surgery and vulvar procedures.
Does excess skin around your labia cause discomfort during intercourse, or painful chafing in tight clothing? Is sexual intercourse unsatisfying? If so, urogynecologic treatments can improve your quality of life.
The Vaginal Rejuvenation or Labiaplasty Process, from Consultation to Completion
An initial consultation with Dr. Mathews includes a conversation about the benefits of vaginal rejuvenation or labiaplasty, and your expectations for a successful outcome.
After a physical examination, Dr. Mathews can provide an effective treatment plan for resurfacing, tightening or sculpting the vagina area.
Vaginal rejuvenation, also known as cosmetic vaginal surgery or vaginoplasty, restores the appearance of the vulvar and vaginal region, and tightens muscles and tissues. This minimally invasive procedure improves the appearance of the vaginal opening, and creates a smaller diameter within the vaginal canal to improve sexual function. Both partners tend to notice a difference after vaginoplasty.
Labiaplasty refers to the procedure to reduce or reshape the external anatomy of a woman’s vaginal structure.
The in-office procedure for vaginal rejuvenation or labiaplasty will involve local anesthesia, and takes approximately one to three hour to complete. Dr. Mathews is a board certified obgyn with special training as a gynecologic cosmetic surgeon. He has decades of experience and advanced training in minimally invasive techniques for gynecologic, vaginal and urogynecologic surgeries. He employs higher-level techniques to improve surgical outcomes.
• Vaginoplasty reduces excessive width inside the vaginal canal to restore and tighten the vaginal canal.
• Labiaplasty minora (reducing interior skin) targets the smaller, inner lips of the vagina that can give you a bulge in tight clothing, or cause discomfort and chafing.
• Labiaplasty majora (reducing outer vulvar skin) provides the same aesthetic benefits as labiaplasty minora, reducing or sculpting the labia.
You can expect minimal scarring, discomfort, downtime and recovery with vaginal rejuvenation or labiaplasty. Most patients can return to work within the week, and full activities within the month.
Our Dallas, Frisco and Plano urogynecology patients sometimes opt to combine labiaplasty with another surgery, such as pelvic reconstruction or prolapse repair. In this case, Dr. Mathews will schedule the procedure at a hospital, and arrange for general anesthesia.
