It is well documented in the medical literature that having children naturally can lead to an increase incidence of vaginal relaxation.  When this relaxation becomes severe doctors refer to this as prolapse.  Conditions of Pelvic Organ Prolapse are addressed in the Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery section of this website.  However, many patients especially younger patients who have had children may begin to experience vaginal relaxation early on.  Though they may not have any prominent symptoms such as:  pressure, painful intercourse, bulging from the vagina, they do voice their concern that they no longer experience the same pleasure they once did with intercourse.  Consistently these women all say the same thing, "my vagina is too loose". 

Vaginal Rejuvenation (VR) will effectively enhance vaginal muscle tone, strength, and control. It will also effectively decrease the internal and external vaginal diameters as well as build up and strengthen the perineal body (they are immediately outside the vagina and above the anus). Vaginoplasty can improve womens positive body image. The most common complaint that women have is they feel their labia are too large.  Often patients will bring in photographs and or pictures of their desired image.  These patients approach their problem the same way a patient would if they felt they had a large nose, small breasts or chin. 

It is also possible that enlarged labia causes  a woman severe irritation and pain with tight clothing or intercourse. Again this would be a reason to have labia reduction surgery.
