Welcome to the virtual office for the Institute for Aesthetic Vaginal Surgery. Founded by Dr. J. Kyle Mathews, a Female Pelvic & Vaginal Reconstructive Surgeon, the Institute is a dedicated women’s facility and is uniquely situated to address the needs and concerns of women seeking Aesthetic Vaginal Surgery.  With a compassionate, experienced and dedicated staff, and comfortable surroundings, your care may be discussed in a private setting with confidence.  Click here for the Institute of Aesthetic Vaginal Surgery Main Site.

Often referred to as “Vaginal Rejuvenation,” “Aesthetic Vaginal Surgery,” “Cosmetic Vaginal Surgery,” or “vaginoplasty,” these highly specialized procedures resurfaces and tightens the tissues to reclaim the youthful appearance and function of the vulvar and vaginal area.

Dr. Mathews has extensive training in aesthetic vaginal surgery and his experience as a pelvic & vaginal reconstructive  surgeon enables him to provide complete care in terms of aesthetic, gynecologic, and urological issues by addressing any incontinence and pelvic prolapse that may be present at the time of your cosmetic procedure.  This broad base of knowledge, specialized training and experience provides a distinct advantage over treatments provided by plastic surgeons, who typically have no training in the art of reconstructive pelvic surgery or general gynecologist, who has little to no training in aesthetic vaginal/vulvar procedures.

Surgery may be preformed in an office setting under local anesthesia and sedation, or in an operating room under general or spinal anesthesia if combined with treatment of pelvic organ prolapse.  Each procedure usually takes about one hour to complete.   For aesthetic procedures, patients may return to work in 2 to 3 days and full activity in 6 to 8 weeks.

Located in Plano, Texas, a suburb of Dallas, Dr. Mathews office is continently located giving patient ease of access to the his broad base of knowledge, experience, innovative techniques, and sharp focus on aesthetics.  With two major airports, nearby luxury hotels, and concierge service offered, patients from all over the world are accommodated.

Treatment Options and Procedures

Vaginoplasty (vaginal rejuvenation)

Vaginoplasty or vaginal rejuvenation, tightens lax muscles and tissues and remove excess vaginal skin to narrow the diameter of the vagina resulting in a smaller and tighter opening and vaginal canal. This tightening is done  the entire length of the vagina, and not merely the first  few centimeters.  Unlike the superficial perineoplasty repairs done by most plastic surgeons and gynecologists, Dr. Mathews does full depth repairs to achieve superior results.   Vaginoplasty may be performed  in the office under local anesthsia and sedation or in the operating room if procedures for Pelvic Organ Prolapse are to be preformed. Surgery takes about one hour to perform and patients may return to work in about one week.  Some doctors  advertise this procedure for the “Enhancement of Sexual Gratification” as well as a cosmetic procedure.

Labiaplasty Minora (Labial Reduction)

This surgery removes excess or uneven skin of the labia minora (smaller interior vaginal lips) that often causes chronic irritation, rubbing, or discomfort during sexual intercourse. Many request this surgery to eliminate the appearance of a bulge with certain clothing such as wet swimsuits or leotards.  Labia can grow large with estrogen stimulation at puberty and pregnancy and with the effects of gravity with aging.  Dr. Mathews uses a highly refined technique utilizing equipment used in neurosurgery (operating on the brain and nerves) which causes minimal tissue damage,   Much less tissue damage than with laser or electrocautery which is used by the majority of surgeons performing Vaginal Aesthetics.  The use of superior techniques and equipment results in more natural looking results. Labiaplasty may be performed in the office under local anesthesia and sedation or in the operating room if procedures for Pelvic Organ Prolapse are to be preformed.   This procedure takes about one hour to perform and patients may return to work in 2 or 3 days. For more information, click here.

After Labiaplasty Surgery

Labiaplasty Major

The broader outer lips of the vulva, Labia Majora, can be enlarged with excess skin and tissue.  This enlargement can cause an embarrassing bulge in pants, swimsuites, or leatards.  The Labia Majora may be enlarged from birth, secondary to childbirth, or due to agining. Dr. Mathews refined technique safely reduces the size of the Labia Majora while hiding the scar in the crease between the inner and outer labia.  Labiaplasty Majora is done in the office under local anesthesia and sedation, or in the operating roomunder general anesthesia  if

with threatment of pelvic organ prolapse.  The procedure takes about one hour and you may return to work in 2 to 3 days.

Perineoplasty (Perineorrhaphy)

The perineum or perineal body is the area between the vagina and the rectum.  This is the region where episiotomies are cut and where tears during childbirth are most common. Perineoplasty (or Perineorrhaphy) aims to make this region appear normal by excising excess skin, loose skin tags, and suturing the underlying muscles closer together to give a more snug feeling at the entrance and decreasing the size of the vaginal opening. Most plastic surgeons who perform Vaginoplasty surgery are actually performing Perineoplasty surgery, a more superficial procedure that does not tighten the entire depth of the vaginal canal. This procedure has been advertised by many to “Enhance Sexual Gratification. However, because only the first few centimeters or so of the vagina is addressed, many patients are disappointed.  Dr. Mathews almost always accompanies Vaginoplasty with Perineoplasty to address the entire length of the vagina resulting in a superior result.  This procedure takes 30 minutes to perform.

Clitoral Hood Reduction

Excess skin on the sides of the clitoris may cause the clitoris to appear large or uneven.  Using  precise surgical technique and specialized equipment used in neurosurgery (operating on the brain and nerves) which causes minimal tissue damage,  the excess skin is removed from the sided of the clitoris avoiding the nerves.  The clitoris itself and its nerves are never touched using this technique.  It should be noted, THIS IS NOT clitoral mutilation or clitoral un-hooding.   Clitoral Hood Reduction is done in the office under local anesthesia and takes about 30 minutes.

Hymenoplasty

Reconstruction of the hymen may be performed for cultural, religious, or social reasons.  This procedure  takes about one hour and may be done in the office under local anesthesia.
