Cesarean Deliveries Increased, Total Births Declined in 2008

Births by cesarean delivery increased to nearly one third of all deliveries in 2008, a year in which the total number of births diminished, according to the “Annual Study of Vital Statistics: 2008,” published online December 20 in the journal Pediatrics.

Young Girls are Entering Puberty Earlier

A recent study found age of puberty is declining for girls, with more girls developing breasts by age 7 than in years past. Ethnicity was also a factor in the study with girls of African-American ethnicity maturing before whites.
