Vaginal Rejuvenation

Cosmetic Gynecology is one of the fastest growing segments in cosmetic surgery today. Vaginal Rejuvenation is often used as a general term to describe a number of surgeries such as Labiaplasty or Vaginoplasty. A trade marked term, Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation, gained national attention when introduced on TV a number of years ago.

Vaginal Rejuvenation is most appropriately used to describe the procedure used to tighten the vaginal canal, Vaginoplasty. Birth trauma, tissue stretching and improper surgical healing can result in vaginal canal laxity and is the most common reason for patients to request Vaginal Rejuvenation or Vaginoplasty. Bulging of the rectum, Rectocele, and/or small intestines, Enterocele, into the vaginal canal are almost always present and require attention. Urogynecologist or Gynecologist have the most experience repairing these defects.

Vaginal Rejuvenation or Vaginoplasty often is combined with other cosmetic vaginal procedures to address the entire area. Procedures such as Labiaplasty, the reduction of the lips of the vagina, and Perineoplasty, rebuilding the space between the vagina and rectum, can be preformed at the time of the initial procedure. In addition, conditions such as Stress Urinary Incontinence, leaking with cough, sneezing, laughing, can be address also.

Urogynecologist with special training in cosmetic gynecology are often the most experienced and have the most advance training in these types of advanced vaginal repairs. Vaginal Rejuvenation typically takes about an hour to perform and may be done in an office setting or in the hospital.
