Dr. J. Kyle Mathews Among 1 Percent to Receive Board Certification in Urogynecology

jkmheadshotcompPLANO, Texas (Feb 12, 2014) – Joining a handful of urogynecologists, Plano’s Dr. J. Kyle Mathews is one of the first in the United States to receive board certification in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, also known as Urogynecology.

A relatively new field of medicine, urogynecology is a subspecialty within Obstetrics and Gynecology and treats issues often considered part of the natural aging process such as incontinence, pelvic pain, recurrent urinary tract infections or prolapse.

“I am honored to be recognized as one of the first board certified urogynecologists in the area, let alone the nation,” Dr. Mathews said. “Urogynecology is an important area of women’s health, one that can make a profound impact on our patients’ quality of life.”

Dr. Mathews has spent more than two decades developing his therapeutic and surgical skills to care for the gynecological and pelvic health of his female patients in the Plano, Dallas and Frisco communities. He leverages today’s latest technologies to treat complex gynecologic conditions, including the use of robotic surgery and minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery.

“At Plano Urogynecology Associates, we are committed to delivering the latest in technology and treatments, so that our patients can fully enjoy life,” he explained. “We’re able to integrate the skills of a gynecologist, urologist and colorectal surgeon to treat complex female pelvic conditions.”

The board certification for Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery was approved by the American Board of Medical Specialties in 2012 and is granted by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
