Polyphenols, the compound found in red wine that is thought to help prevent heart vessel disease, may one day be used in medicated heart stents. A recent study on animal suggest the compound, Polyphonol, may be beneficial when included in heart stent, a device used to keep an artery in the heart open.

Interstim, an FDA approved treatment for urinary urgency and frequency that stimulates the sacral nerve near the tailbone to help restore control of the urinary bladder muscle. has been granted indication in the treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome according to sources.
